Who We Are

Established in 2010

Our Identity

Afghan Women’s Empowerment and Development Organization (AWEDO) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit Afghan organization established in 2010 and registered with the NGOs Department of the Ministry of Economy under license number 3259. AWEDO works with women, girls and vulnerable communities through locally informed, inclusive and accountable programs.

AWEDO designs and delivers initiatives in women’s empowerment, education and vocational training, economic empowerment, humanitarian assistance, and the prevention of violence. Our work is guided by community consultation, safeguarding, transparency, responsible resource management, and respect for the dignity and rights of the people we serve.

Through collaboration with communities, local authorities, civil society, service providers and development partners, AWEDO seeks to strengthen local capacity, improve access to essential services, expand opportunities for women and girls, and support communities affected by poverty, displacement, exclusion, violence and humanitarian emergencies.

Mission

To empower Afghan women and girls by expanding access to education and vocational training, economic opportunities, humanitarian assistance, protection from violence, and meaningful participation in community life.

How We Work

AWEDO works through community consultation, gender-responsive and inclusive programming, safeguarding, transparency, responsible resource management, community feedback, and continuous learning. Activities are designed according to verified needs, operational capacity and available resources.

Who We Serve

AWEDO prioritizes women and girls, women-headed households, displaced and returnee families, persons with disabilities, vulnerable households and communities affected by poverty, exclusion, violence or humanitarian emergencies.
