Job Description

AWEDO is seeking a qualified and experienced Software Developer to support the design, development, maintenance and improvement of the organization’s digital systems, website, databases and internal information management tools.

The Software Developer will be responsible for developing user-friendly, secure and reliable digital solutions that support AWEDO’s programs, operations, reporting, data management and communication needs. The position requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, attention to detail and the ability to work closely with program, operations, finance, administration and management teams.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develop, maintain and improve AWEDO’s website, web-based platforms and digital systems.
  2. Design and manage databases, dashboards and digital reporting tools for program and organizational use.
  3. Support data collection, data cleaning, data protection and information management systems.
  4. Ensure that digital systems are secure, user-friendly, mobile-responsive and regularly updated.
  5. Troubleshoot website, database, software and system-related technical issues.
  6. Support integration of forms, contact pages, search tools, online announcements, project pages and other website features.
  7. Work with relevant departments to identify digital needs and develop practical technical solutions.
  8. Maintain proper backups, documentation and version control for developed systems and files.
  9. Provide basic technical support and training to staff on the use of digital tools and systems.
  10. Ensure confidentiality, data security and responsible handling of organizational information.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in software development, website development or information management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and responsive web design.
  • Experience with PHP, MySQL, WordPress, Laravel or similar web technologies is preferred.
  • Experience in database design, data management and dashboard development.
  • Good understanding of website security, hosting, domain management, backups and performance optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and provide practical solutions.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is required; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
