According to AWEDO project records, the Afghan Women’s Empowerment and Development Organization received support from the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF) to implement a life-saving cash-for-food assistance project in Kunduz Province. The project, titled “Provision of life-saving cash for food assistance to 23,016 food-insecure IPC Phase 3 and 4 vulnerable people (3,288 households) in Chahar Darah and Qala-e-Zal districts of Kunduz Province,” was designed to help households facing severe food insecurity meet urgent food needs with dignity. Implementation began on 4 November 2023 and was scheduled to conclude on 3 May 2024. The reported total project budget was USD 490,433.06.
The assistance focused on vulnerable households in Chahar Darah and Qala-e-Zal districts of Kunduz Province. Participant selection was intended to prioritize households experiencing serious food insecurity, including women-headed households and families facing heightened economic and protection risks. Cash assistance can allow eligible households to purchase food according to their most urgent needs while supporting choice and dignity. Project implementation included community coordination, participant verification, clear communication, safeguarding, complaints and feedback channels, and monitoring of assistance delivery.
