Tailoring and Handicraft Skills Development

Tailoring and handicraft training provides women with practical vocational skills that may be used for household income generation, self-employment, or further enterprise development. AWEDO’s courses combined skills learning with an emphasis on practical application.

Training covers production techniques, quality, finishing, design, and the disciplined practice required to develop reliable products. Practical learning allows participants to strengthen skills through repeated application rather than theory alone.

Vocational skills can become more valuable when participants also understand basic business practices. Knowledge of customer preferences, costing, product presentation, record keeping, and market opportunities helps women consider how skills can translate into income-generating activities.

The initiative supports AWEDO’s wider objective of connecting skills development with economic empowerment. By strengthening practical capabilities and confidence, vocational training create pathways toward greater self-reliance.
